It might not be another Build-a-Bear situation, but Meridian’s Krispy Kreme is prepared for a crowd.

On Friday, when customers buy a regularly-priced box of one dozen doughnuts, they will be able to buy another dozen of glazed donuts for just $1. The promotion was announced Monday in a tweet.

Krispy Kreme, located at 1525 North Eagle Road, will also offer a special glazed confetti doughnut for its birthday celebration.

On July 12, Build-a-Bear held a “Pay Your Age” sale, where could buy a bear for whatever their age is. The promotion was largely chaotic nationwide, even at the Boise Towne Square Mall, where a Boise police officer was sent in for crowd control.

Krispy Kreme assistant manager Danny Ho believes his team is equipped to weather the sugary storm.

“We’re going to be well prepared,” Ho said. “We’ll be running batches all day.”

The store will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Ho said his store could make up to 1,500 dozens of doughnuts for the event, or nearly 18,000 doughnuts. To curb what is sure to be high traffic, Ho and other staffers already have parameters set up.

First: One door will be for entry, the other for exiting. That way, the line is fluid and less hectic. They will also prepackage dozens, he said, to ensure people get in and out of line quickly.

To keep the parking lot free of congestion, employees will likely park their cars in another lot, Ho said. He expects the store to be “well-staffed” for the celebration.

“It’s just getting the people through the line quickly,” Ho said. “If they’re doing a bunch of dozens, we’re well prepared for that.”
