This new rooftop bar, restaurant is ‘what Eagle needed.’ Its view? ‘Second to none’
As spring fades into summer, Eagle residents are feeling high about a rooftop wine bar and restaurant that opened downtown in April.
Siren Song Wines’ Winemaker’s Loft and Bistro is hidden inside the modern, multi-use Hemingway building, 55 E. State St. It’s a relaxing, breezy spot to enjoy a small plate and a glass of wine from Siren Song, which has a vineyard in Chelan, Washington.
The third-floor destination quickly has earned positive reviews: 4.5 out of 5 stars on Google.
“This wine bar is exactly what Eagle needed!” gushes one. “The view is second to none,” declares another.
(Second to none? OK, maybe of Old State Saloon across the street. Oof.)
When I popped in for a quick visit on a recent afternoon, there were no customers inside. And the patio wasn’t busy — yet. We were politely asked if we had a reservation. Nope. Word of advice: They aren’t required but are recommended, particularly if you want to sit outside on the deck.
Enhanced with fire pits and comfortable, European-style wicker seating, Siren Song’s inviting patio feels like a microcosm of old Eagle slowly transforming into new Eagle. Potted plants line the perimeter. Fake — but, hey, they’re pretty.
Siren Songs’ nine-wine selection may or may not provide enough variety for grape aficionados. (Prices range from $14-$18 per glass to $34-$58 per bottle.) And the two lonely beers ($7, served in a glass) were a gluten-free Japanese lager and a Washington hazy IPA.
Either way, the appetizer-driven food menu is surprisingly enticing. Thirteen share plates range from a Warm Olive Melange ($10) and Kale Asiago Salad ($14) to Spanish Style Crispy Calamari ($18) or a full-on Parisian Picnic ($28) of charcuterie, imported cheeses, olives, fruit, nuts and a French demi baguette. A couple of desserts also tempt.
A recommended pairing? Siren Song’s 2024 Spanish Dancer ($14), a crisp, well-balanced albariño wine, sipped alongside Apricot Baked Brie ($18), a French demi baguette accompanied by a warm cheese wheel topped with white wine-soaked apricot chunks and apricot-infused honey. Each nibble brought out the apricot undertones of the Spanish Dancer, which won gold at the 2025 Seattle Wine Awards.
Word to the wise: Be prepared for honey-sticky fingers. Gauche as this might sound, perhaps that delicious dish should be served with a moist cloth? (Service, by the way, was friendly and attentive.)
Siren Song’s Loft and Bistro is the latest example of growing entertainment choices in transplant-packed Eagle. No, it’s not the same breathtaking view of the Foothills as, say, the City of Trees’ new Boise Post atop the 15-story AC/Element Hotel. But if you live in Eagle, a third-story perch might be just enough to rule out driving to downtown Boise.
Not in the mood for pasta indoors at local standby DaVinci’s across the street? Or housemade guacamole at fellow out-of-state newcomer Spitfire Tacos & Tequila a block away? (With its not-as-high rooftop patio?)
The brief elevator ride up to Siren Song beckons. Soaking up sunshine at tree-top level as traffic rolls past below, you’ll find that sweet baked brie tastes strangely heavenly.
