Boise’s food truck park reopens along the Greenbelt, without beer: 5 things to know
The month of May is hours away. Temperatures could reach the 80s this weekend.
And Green Acres Food Truck Park opens for the season on Friday.
Translation? Life is good, Boise.
Heading into its sixth year, Green Acres is preparing to welcome the hungry, smiling masses for food, live music, dancing, yard games and people-watching — all in an expansive, grassy spot next to the Boise River. It’s open Wednesdays through Sundays and free to enter. Well-behaved dogs are welcome. (Bringing outside food and drink is not.)
Although Green Acres’ overall battle plan remains the same, there’s one significant change in 2026: its location. You might notice other slight differences, too — especially on opening weekend.
Here are five things to know if you join the fun.
1. New spot
Because of a lease hurdle at its former site at 14th Street and Shoreline Drive, Green Acres has moved this year — east down the Greenbelt. It’s maybe a 5-minute walk from the former spot. But now it’s directly behind Payette Brewing Co. at 767 S. Pioneer St.
You know that bridge along the Boise River that’s a popular takeout point for summer floaters? That’s where Green Acres is now — on the north side of the river. “Literally, you’re at the end of your float trip, and you can just walk right across the bridge to us,” says Anny Frampton, who owns Green Acres with her husband, Sean.
2. Parking
If you can? Walk there. Or ride a bike or scooter. If you drive, consider carpooling. Just realize that, depending on the time of day, it might not be automatic to find free parking nearby. (And we all know how Idahoans feel about paying for parking.) Green Acres has a map on its website showing all the parking options in the area, including paid lots. And there are more than 100 free parking spots on streets within a couple of blocks, according to its website. “We are less than a 10-minute walk from Ann Morrison Park,” it adds. “Ann Morrison has over 200 free parking spots.”
3. Food trucks
Green Acres has room for up to nine food trucks at a time. New this year? The on-site ice cream shop has been rebranded as the Lemon Cow, which also will serve fresh-squeezed lemonade. And Loving Lefse food trailer has been added as a “permanent” Green Acres resident, opening early at 9 a.m. for coffee and breakfast. Otherwise, the park will feature a diverse army of rotating local brands serving nearly every cuisine imaginable.
4. Alcohol? Coming soon
As regulars know, the Green Acres bar sells cold beer, wine, frozen drinks — everything an adult needs for sipping and socializing. The line can get a little long during peak hours.
But that won’t be the case this weekend. Alcohol isn’t going to be available during Green Acres’ debut this year.
Why? Government red tape.
“We’re not getting our permits in time for alcohol,” Frampton says. “We’re opening without the bar open.”
Hopefully, she adds, the alcohol nod will come soon — and beer will flow by next week. You can follow @greenacresboise on Instagram for updates.
(Hey, there’s always Payette Brewing nearby in the meantime.)
