Food truck parties aren’t just for Boise. This legit one debuts Saturday in 2C

Start working up an appetite, Canyon County.

A family-friendly food truck pop-up will debut Saturday in Caldwell — and it’s not just a couple of vendors.

The Foodport, a collaboration between food-and-beverage nonprofit FARE Idaho and sustainable land use and development organization Idaho Smart Growth, will feed patrons from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 4510 Aviation Way, across from the old Airport Cafe.

The Foodport, according to a press release, “is part of FARE Idaho’s broader economic development efforts to support independent food and beverage entrepreneurs across Idaho. This initiative brings together mobile food vendors in an open-air format designed to activate underutilized space, connect neighbors, and stimulate local business growth.”

Participants will include The Rusty Dog (hot dogs); Pop’s Treasure Valley Taqueria (try the habanero sauce first, because trust me, the ghost sauce is for pros); The Hood (smoked meats, Southern-style barbecue); Float and Chill Truck (Dole Whip, sundaes, floats, frozen lemonade); Sugar Wagon (desserts and sweets); Slay the Snow (shaved ice); Damn Daniels (loaded fries, comfort foods, fried Oreos); Fegols Stop N Shop (Hispanic-inspired sweet and savory snacks); and Sweet Sip (fresh-squeezed lemonade stand).

A pilot program, The Foodport plans to hold a second event at the same location Aug. 16.
