This Greenbelt patio was a spot for beer, food along Boise River. Not now

If you’re taking a walk along the Boise River, prepare for one less dog-friendly patio beckoning this summer — at least for now.

Greenbelt Market permanently closed.

The seasonal food-and-drink stop along the Garden City side of the river didn’t return to action in 2025. In fact, the 545-square-foot space was sold in June, according to Realtor.com.

Now there’s a sign in the window revealing what’s next. More on that in a sec.

Located at 3472 N. Prospect Lane, Greenbelt Market was part-grocery store, part-social hangout. Or as it described itself on Google, “a destination spot located in front of the whitewater wave where surfers and kayaks get their sport on. A true bodega with beer, wine, grab-n-go food, snacks (and) ice cream ... Sandwiches, wraps, protein cups, veggie and hummus plates, dessert, coffee and more.”

So what will take over this sweet little spot? An Eagle winery.

Dude DeWalt Cellars is coming soon, according to a sign inconspicuously placed at ground level behind two remaining chairs on the empty patio. It would join nearby Telaya Wine Co. on the Greenbelt, and a horde of other wineries in Garden City.

Let’s hope it makes its grand opening splash before summer ends. And maybe serves ice cream like the market did?
