This new Boise food truck pod opens Friday with shade, games, rotating vendors
Hungry Boiseans are in luck on Friday the 13th in June.
A new food truck pod is launching that day.
State St. Food Truck Lot will debut at 3508 W. State St. Located near the busy intersection of State and 36th streets, the grub hub is taking over a former .13-acre spot previously used for month-to-month outdoor auto storage. It’s right behind Kibrom’s Ethiopian & Eritrean Restaurant.
Up to four food trucks or trailers will fit on the lot. Pop’s Treasure Valley Taqueria, The Hood and Anzalone Pizza will serve on opening day, owner Suzanne Hanrahan said. More rotating food trucks are being sought throughout summer, she said. (Booking information is at statestfoodtruck.com.)
Customers can expect picnic tables with shade umbrellas, portable restrooms, cornhole and a giant Connect 4-style game. Fifty coupons worth $5 will be distributed over the weekend to people who ride bikes to the food truck court, Hanrahan said in a message. Local musicians Rusty Hill and Trevor Engman will perform from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, she added.
As for adult beverages? Stay thirsty, friends.
Hanrahan is “working on beer and wine approval,” she said. “But it will take time.”
State St. Food Truck Lot’s hours are slated to be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. It joins the larger Green Acres Food Truck Park — at 14th Street and Shoreline Drive — as the city’s only food truck pods.
