‘So sad!’ This local doughnut shop closed in Eagle. Now there’s one left — in Boise

A well-known local doughnut brand has left a hole in Eagle.

Guru Donuts, 2826 N. Eagle Road, recently closed. Located in a strip mall along the busy thoroughfare, the store had debuted in fall of 2020.

Guru Donuts made the announcement on social media the same morning it shuttered — March 17 — and encouraged patrons to visit its flagship downtown Boise location at 928 W. Main St.

Fans lamented the news on Instagram, where comments ranged from “Nooooo!” to “So sad!”

No reason for the closure was provided. But in a reply on Instagram, Guru said the Eagle location — in the Bridges at Lakemoor development — “was very hard operationally with our kitchen being located downtown.”

Guru Donuts offers unique items such as the Healthy Homer, which it describes as “a gluten-friendly Idaho potato doughnut topped with house-made pink vanilla glaze and finished with rainbow sprinkles.”

Known for gluten-friendly and vegan options in addition to traditional recipes, Guru Donuts has changed hands since it was founded in 2013. The original owners sold it in 2019. Then new buyers took over the brand again in 2023, according to Guru Donuts’ website.

The Boise bakery has been in the Idanha Building at 10th and Main streets since 2016.

“We are excited to continue serving the Treasure Valley the highest quality donuts + coffee + breakfast from our downtown location,” Guru Donuts wrote on social media.
