After opening in a ‘great place,’ Meridian dessert shop to close. Chain’s exiting Idaho

When Cinnaholic made its Idaho debut in 2017 — in Meridian — things were looking sweet.

Hope existed for a possible second Treasure Valley location in downtown Boise.

“We’ll see how this one goes,” co-franchisee Angie Davies told the Idaho Statesman. “The Village is such a great place.”

Now the chain’s gourmet cinnamon rolls will disappear.

Cinnaholic, 3693 E. Longwing Lane at The Village at Meridian, will close after a final day of operation March 16. It’s the chain’s only Idaho store.

Cinnaholic specializes in customizable cinnamon rolls and other treats such as cookies and brownies. “All of our products are fresh-baked and 100% vegan, dairy- and lactose-free, egg-free and cholesterol-free,” the vegan bakery promises.

In a social-media note attributed to the Cinnaholic team, the Meridian store shared the closure news “with a heavy heart.”

“We are grateful for the support and loyalty you have shown us over the past eight years,” the message says. “Serving this community has been a pleasure, and we cherish the memories and relationships we’ve built with each of you.

“Any outstanding gift cards will be honored through March 12. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.”

Started in Berkeley, California, Cinnaholic first received national attention in 2014 on ABC’s “Shark Tank.” Its husband-and-wife founders declined an investment offer.

“Since then, Cinnaholic has opened over 100 locations in the U.S. and Canada,” its website says.
