Sports-themed restaurant from Arizona to open in Boise with steakburgers, ‘lobsta’ rolls

Sports fans will have a new burger-and-brew hangout in Boise soon.

In Eagle, too, if all goes according to plan.

Matty G’s Steakburgers & Lobsta’ Rolls will open around Dec. 1 at 6565 W. Fairview Ave., according to founder Matthew Gorman. The building is the former home of Meltz Extreme Grilled Cheese, which closed in late summer before moving to Chow Public Market and Eatery at the Boise Spectrum.

Matty G’s operates a sports bar and restaurant in Mesa, Arizona. The Boise expansion will be a franchise. Matty G’s also hopes to open an Eagle location as soon as mid-December, Gorman said.

Matty’s in Mesa is rated 4.3 out of 5.0 stars on both Google and Yelp.

“Known for its mouth-watering steakburgers, buttery lobsta’ rolls, foot-long hot dogs, crispy chicken, fresh salads, bold wraps and irresistible street food, Matty G’s offers an elevated twist on classic American comfort food,” a press release says. “Not only will Matty G’s serve up fantastic food, but Boise’s location will also be a paradise for sports enthusiasts.”

The family-friendly restaurant will feature sports memorabilia on the walls and offer multiple big screens.

Local craft beers will be on tap, and wine will be sold, along with canned cocktails.

The Boise menu isn’t finalized, but customers probably can expect most of the hefty, gourmet burgers to be $17 or $18 including a side such as french, garlic or sweet-potato fries. Fancy foot-long hot dogs and “lobsta’ rolls” (made with “lobsta’ salad” on a 6-inch hoagie, according to the menu) will be priced in the same ballpark, also including sides.

Matty G’s in Boise will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“Mark your calendars,” the release says, promising “bold flavors, great drinks and an immersive sports-watching experience that’s unforgettable.”
