‘I hate this,’ Boise: Sold-out arena concert called off day before. Opener to play Emmett

Bummer news for Jon Pardi fans in the Boise area: “Mr. Saturday Night” won’t be here Thursday.

After postponing three concerts last week because of strep throat, the country star announced Wednesday that he had done the same with his sold-out Thursday show at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa — along with dates Friday and Saturday in Montana.

“Just gonna cut right to the chase: I have to reschedule this weekend,” a tired-looking Pardi explained in a video posted on social media. “Also, I now have COVID. ... It’s been going around my family and crew.”

Known for hits such as “Dirt on My Boots,” “Heartache Medication” and “Head Over Boots,” Pardi last performed in the Treasure Valley at the Western Idaho Fair in 2021. The show, which was free with paid fair admission, drew over 17,000 fans.

Randall King, an opening act at Pardi’s Idaho Center show, is still coming. He and his band will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday at Stoney’s Road House in Emmett. Tickets start at $10 in advance.

“We are already headed to Boise,” King explained in a social-media video shot from an airplane seat.

Fans who display their Idaho Center ticket at the merchandise booth will get a discount, King said.

Tickets to the original Pardi concert will be honored at the rescheduled one. That date has not been announced.

“I was really looking forward to this weekend, but I gotta get healthy and rest,” Pardi said. “There’s nothing fun about this. I hate this. Sorry once again, and hope everybody’s safe out there.”
