New bar to open under this popular Boise restaurant. Exactly where? That’s in the vault
Cameron Lumsden and his wife, Amanda, aren’t trying to keep word of their planned downtown Boise lounge under wraps.
But it is in the vault.
The owners of Fork, 199 N. 8th St., are creating a spacious bar directly beneath their restaurant in the basement. It will be in the old vault space of the Boise City National Bank building, also known as the 805 Idaho building.
The Lumsdens hope to open the still-unnamed lounge in December, “just in time for holiday libations,” Cameron Lumsden said in an email.
“The space will be a high quality, yet approachable, lounge featuring balanced cocktails, boutique wines by the glass and bottle, and beer offerings in a comfortable, modern design located in the 131-year-old, historically registered Boise City National Bank building … in the heart of downtown Boise,” he wrote.
The vault door, which weighs 30,000 pounds, is a “work of art,” Lumsden explained. Located in the center of the 4,000-square-foot lounge, it will lead to its own seating area.
The underground hangout will cater to a variety of customers, Lumsden said, “whether looking for a cocktail before dinner downtown, grabbing a drink after work, hanging with friends, craving a bottle of champagne, thirsty after a bike ride — locals and travelers alike.”
In addition to Fork, the Lumsdens also own Àlavita restaurant in the same building at 807 W. Idaho St.
