This Grammy-winning band has never been to Boise. Now it’s performing a major concert
Boise’s summer music calendar just got more critically acclaimed.
Award-winning indie-folk group Bon Iver has been added to the schedule at Outlaw Field, the 4,000-capacity outdoor venue at the Idaho Botanical Garden. The show will take place Friday, Aug. 11, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and music starting at 6:30. An opening act is planned but hasn’t been announced.
Tickets become available to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday for $65 plus fees at Ticketmaster. Garden members can buy them for $60 starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
The concert should feel special for Idaho fans. Chris Moore, CEO of promoter CMoore Concerts, said he is unaware of Bon Iver ever performing in Boise before. Idaho Statesman archives also have no mention of a prior show.
The brainchild of singer-songwriter Justin Vernon, Bon Iver (pronounced “BOHN ee-VAIR”) released its first album, “For Emma, Forever Ago,” in 2008. The record was honored by music publications as one of the top albums of the year — even decade. Bon Iver’s eponymous second record won a Grammy Award in 2012 for Best Alternative Music Album. The group won the Best New Artist Award that same year.
Bon Iver is the third concert revealed so far at Outlaw Field in 2023. The Avett Brothers are slated to perform July 18, and Chicago will perform Sept. 3.
Train, Better Than Ezra
The Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater also just announced another summer concert.
Pop-rock band Train will perform Thursday, July 27, with special guest Better Than Ezra.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through fordidahocenter.com for $39.50 to $99.50 plus fees. There’s also a general-admission lawn “four pack” that works out to $29.50 per ticket.
