Treefort Music Fest to move next year — to the ‘perfect’ Boise place, organizers say

Treefort Music Fest is on the move.

After a decade in a parking lot at 12th and Grove streets in downtown Boise, the popular festival’s Main Stage will relocate starting next year, along with its best-known ancillary events, Alefort and Foodfort.

The festival’s new “long-term home,” according to an announcement on Treefort’s website, will be Julia Davis Park, 700 S. Capitol Blvd. Treefort is scheduled for March 22-26, 2023.

The Main Stage’s longtime location is being developed into apartments, organizers explained, and a hotel is planned where Treefort’s Alefort and Foodfort events have occurred across the street.

“We looked at other parking lots. We talked about closing down streets. We mused about setting up on the Capitol steps. And then we found it — the perfect place: Julia Davis Park.”

The annual festival, which attracts hundreds of bands and thousands of fans, “will continue to use dozens of existing and pop-up venues throughout downtown Boise.” That will include familiar downtown spots such as Neurolux, El Korah Shrine and a new Treefort Music Hall in the BoDo district at 722 W. Broad St.

“However,” organizers added, “moving the Main Stage to Julia Davis Park means we will also relocate many of the forts and free programming that happens around Main Stage, all of which will be centralized within adjacent areas of the park.”

We feel lucky to celebrate one of the City of Trees’ favorite events surrounded by trees and immersed in local culture,” organizers added. “Stay tuned for more details about how the new Main Stage location will come together and the first wave of artists performing at Treefort 11.”
