5 things to do this weekend in Boise: Bogus, bands — nation’s largest mimosa fest?

Bored? This weekend’s Boise calendar is teeming with things to do.

Here are entertainment highlights.

1. Bogus opens

The mercury in Boise will push 90 degrees Friday. Fortunately, things are always cooler at Bogus Basin, which launches summer operations the same day. Bogus will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday, then begin seven-day-a-week action June 17.

Because of a soggy spring, activities will be, well, “scaled back,” general manager Brad Wilson said in a news release. Stuff you can do? The Glade Runner Mountain Coaster, the Basin Gravity Park, up-and-down chair rides on Deer Point and Morningstar lifts, gem panning — and food and drink, of course. The climbing wall, bungee trampoline, summer tubing and, with luck, trails should be ready June 17.

Bike rentals will be available opening day, but hiking and cycling Bogus’ trail system is off-limits this weekend — mostly. That includes Around the Mountain and Elk Meadows trails. For a quick hike, if you ride Morningstar up, you can hike Brewer’s Byway down to Elk Meadows and back up to the top of the lift, then ride down.

2. Do some drinkin’

Ballpark Brew Fest returns to Memorial Stadium, 5600 N. Glenwood St., with tons of local breweries, food, music and games. It runs from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday and costs $15. That includes a mug and six beer tasting tickets. It’s $5 for designated driver tickets (which include a hot dog and a soda) or for festivalgoers younger than 21. Details: BoiseHawks.com.

The touring Mimosa Fest rolls into the Revolution Concert House and Event Center, 4983 N. Glenwood St., at noon Sunday. Details are somewhat limited, but the online flyer promises shopping, food and a DJ. Organizers call it “the nation’s largest mimosa fest” — so there’s that. The price is $20 general admission (includes one mimosa), $50 VIP (includes three mimosas and early entry at 11 a.m.) or $99 VIP (includes five mimosas and early entry at 11 a.m.).
