Albertsons Boise Open to host 3 ‘amazing’ concerts for $25? We want more, more, more!
The Albertsons Boise Open is taking a huge swing again.
For the second straight year, the annual golf tournament will present three major outdoor concerts, rather than just one, after Korn Ferry Tour play ends on the first three evenings. The tournament happens Aug. 18-21 at Hillcrest Country Club.
▪ Grammy-nominated country group Midland will kick things off on Thursday, Aug. 18. Formed in 2016, the band made a fast splash with its debut album, “On the Rocks.” Midland is known for hits such “Drinkin’ Problem,” “Make a Little,” “Burn Out,” “Mr. Lonely,” and “Cheatin’ Songs.”
▪ Billy Idol will perform Friday, Aug. 19. The iconic, punk-influenced British singer is famous for 1980s radio staples such as “Dancing with Myself,” “White Wedding,” “Eyes Without a Face” and, of course, the epic “Rebel Yell.” And, yes, Idaho fans: Idol’s longtime guitarist and collaborator, Steve Stevens, is still with him.
▪ Grammy-winning rock band Train will take the stage on Saturday, Aug. 20. Formed in 1993, the group has shown impressive consistency over the years — selling more than 10 million albums. Train’s self-titled debut in 1998 generated the hit “Meet Virginia.” Other popular Train singles include “Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me),” “Hey, Soul Sister,” “If It’s Love,” “Marry Me” and “Drive By.”
Jeff Sanders, CEO of event promoter Jeff Sanders Entertainment, said in a statement that the company is excited to bring in “three amazing bands to perform for our fans this year.”
“Thanks to the tremendous support of Albertsons, Chevron, over 100 major sponsors and 800 loyal Boise volunteers, we are able to host an incredibly fan friendly and affordable event here in Boise while raising millions of dollars for charities.”
Concerts will happen alongside the 18th fairway at the golf course, 4610 W. Hillcrest Drive. Admission is included in the price of daily tournament tickets and four-day passes. Daily tickets are $25 for Thursday, Friday and Saturday (and $10 for Sunday’s final round). Four-day passes for the entire tournament also are available for $65. Head to AlbertsonsBoiseOpen.com to buy tickets.
Now in its 33rd year, the Albertsons Boise Open will feature 75 PGA Tour players and the top 75 Korn Ferry Tour players. Albertsons has sponsored the event since its inception, and Chevron joined last year as the presenting sponsor.
The face value of all tournament ticket sales goes to Treasure Valley charities. The event has raised more than $30 million for charity. Last year, the Albertsons Boise Open set the Korn Ferry Tour charity record with a donation of $2.9 million.
