Band with the 5th best-selling album of this century is coming, Boise. As an opening act

As outdoor summer concerts continue to be announced, Boise hard rock and heavy metal fans have been waiting for positive headbanging news.

The patience is finally paying off.

The Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater has announced that nu-metal band Korn and melodic rockers Evanescence will perform Saturday, Sept. 10. Tickets become available to the public starting at 10 a.m. Friday, April 8, at fordidahocenter.com for $29.50, $59.50, $79.50 and $99.50.

The co-headlining bill is the first big rock show revealed at the Idaho Center’s amphitheater this year. Music will start at 5:30 p.m. Special guests will be announced at a later date.

Although Korn is a much heavier band, Evanescence is a fitting tour partner. Both are veteran acts with two Grammy Awards apiece.

Co-headlining or not, though, there’s no way Evanescence is playing last. That slot will be reserved for skull-crushing Korn, which unleashes visceral energy and rhythmic ferocity on stage.

Formed in 1993 by vocalist Jonathan Davis, Korn first found success in the 1990s. Its bludgeoning, self-titled 1994 debut cemented nu-metal as a mainstream force. Rolling Stone called it “the most important metal record of the last 20 years” in 2014.

Fronted by singer-keyboardist Amy Lee, Evanescence exploded up the charts in 2003 with its full-length debut album, “Fallen.” Featuring the ubiquitous radio smash “Bring Me to Life” and hit ballad “My Immortal,” it has sold more than 17 million copies globally. That makes it the fifth best-selling album of the 21st century, trailing only works from Adele, Eminem and Norah Jones.

Located at 16114 N. Idaho Center Blvd. in Nampa, the Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater is filling up its 2022 schedule. Other shows: Halsey on June 15, Dirty Heads with SOJA on June 28, Slightly Stoopid and Pepper on July 8, The Goo Goo Dolls and Blue October on July 15, Kenny Chesney with Carly Pearce on July 27, Dispatch, O.A.R and G. Love on July 28, The Chicks with Patty Griffin on Aug. 6, Morgan Wallen on Sept. 9, Flogging Molly with The Interrupters on Sept. 14, Foreigner on Sept. 21, Odesza on Sept. 27 and Rufus du Sol on Sept. 30.
