Words & Deeds

This band ‘exploded’ and sold out the Gorge in 5 minutes. It’s coming here too, Boise

Start crushing Red Bulls by the case if you’re an electronic dance music fan.

September is going to require a marathon jolt of energy.

A week after Odesza announced a show at the Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater, fellow nontraditional EDM powerhouse Rüfüs Du Sol has unleashed its own epic news at the same venue.

Odesza will play Tuesday, Sept. 27.

Rüfüs Du Sol will play Friday, Sept. 30.

Tickets to Rüfüs Du Sol become available to the public at 10 a.m. Friday, April 8, at fordidahocenter.com for $39.50 (first 1,500 sold) and $49.50 normal general admission. Paraleven will open.

This won’t be Rüfüs Du Sol’s first concert in the Boise area; it played Outlaw Field at the Idaho Botanical Garden in 2019. But the outdoor show in Nampa definitely is going to be the Australian trio’s biggest.

“The band has exploded,” explained Creston Thornton, president of promoter Live Nation’s mountain region.

The day after it performs in Idaho, Rüfüs Du Sol is scheduled to headline the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington. That show already is sold out. “Over 22,000 tickets,” Thornton said. The sellout occurred 5 minutes after the public sale, he added.

Last year, Rüfüs Du Sol sold more than 48,000 tickets during three consecutive nights at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.

Rufus Du Sol burst out of the gate overseas in 2010, when its debut album, “Atlas,” hit No. 1 in Australia. Starting around 2016, the live electronic group made significant inroads in North America, in part by playing at festivals such as Sasquatch, Coachella, Electric Forest and Hangout Fest.

Located at 16114 N. Idaho Center Blvd. in Nampa, the Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater is filling up its 2022 schedule. Other shows: Halsey on June 15, Dirty Heads with SOJA on June 28, Slightly Stoopid and Pepper on July 8, The Goo Goo Dolls and Blue October on July 15, Kenny Chesney with Carly Pearce on July 27, Dispatch, O.A.R and G. Love on July 28, The Chicks with Patty Griffin on Aug. 6, Morgan Wallen on Sept. 9, Flogging Molly with The Interrupters on Sept. 14 and Foreigner on Sept. 21.
