For $75, this outdoor summer concert will give Boise something to talk about
Crack into that retirement piggy bank, baby boomer. You’ve got summer entertainment to fund.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singers Bonnie Raitt and Mavis Staples are coming to Outlaw Field at the Idaho Botanical Garden this summer. The outdoor concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at Ticketmaster.com for $75 standard general admission, $70 Garden member, $149 suite. There’s also a presale for Garden members that starts at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16.
With both Raitt, 72, and Staples, 82, performing, the evening will be filled with classic blues, R&B, soul, gospel and pop-rock.
Raitt’s best-known hits include “Something to Talk About,” “I Can’t Make You Love Me” — and John Prine’s “Angel from Montgomery,” a fan favorite.
Staples’ recent shows have included songs ranging from Staple Singers classics such as “Respect Yourself” and “I’ll Take You There” to her own, more recent “Who Told You That.”
The Raitt/Staples pairing is the seventh concert announced for the 2022 Outlaw Field series. Here’s the rest of the schedule: Ween on June 28, The Avett Brothers on July 12, Khruangbin on July 13, Rainbow Kitten Surprise on July 15, The Head and the Heart on Aug. 9 and Modest Mouse on Aug. 29.
