Making ‘difficult decision,’ Boise taproom closes because of COVID. ‘We know it sucks.’

After being shut down this spring, Boise restaurants and breweries — but not bars — are allowed to operate again under current coronavirus guidelines.

But the temporary closures keep piling up.

Boise Brewing, 521 W. Broad St., is the latest downtown business to pull the plug as a short-term precaution. On Tuesday, the brewery posted on Facebook that it had closed its taproom: “We know it sucks but we want everyone to be safe.”

“We recently became aware that one of our employees was in contact with a person who showed signs of COVID-19. We are in the process of testing all of our employees and awaiting results. We believe that the health and safety of our community is the highest priority and the reason for making this difficult decision.

“Until testing results are returned, we will be deep cleaning the building and implementing more sanitary procedures. We thank everyone for their understanding and patience and hope to be open again soon when we feel it’s safe to do so! Until then, we are still producing beer available at grocery stores and restaurants throughout the valley!”

Facebook commenters quickly expressed appreciation.

“Thank you for being an example and doing the right thing!” one man posted.
