California-based chain to open ‘Extreme’ new restaurant. Surf’s up, Caldwell.
Bored with pizza? Hold on, bro.
Maybe you’ve never crushed an Extreme Pizza.
This place shreds. Seriously, shredded carrots are an available topping.
Based in California, Extreme Pizza entered the Treasure Valley in 2011. A Boise store serves the college crowd at 590 Broadway Ave., next to the Ram.
Now Caldwell will be Extreme, too. A new franchise restaurant is slated to open at 111 S. 7th Ave.
Founded in 1994 in San Francisco, Extreme Pizza is concentrated in the Golden State. But it also has stores in places ranging from Portland, Oregon, to Wantage, New Jersey.
At 1,395 square feet, the Caldwell restaurant won’t be huge. But that won’t stop it from livin’ large. Known for sports-themed marketing — think surfing and snowboarding — Extreme Pizza makes pies with names such as Ragin’ Rooster, Yard Sale, the Bunny Slope and, uh, Peace in the Middle East. The menu also includes “Monster Subs,” calzones and salads. There are gluten-free options, too, as well as vegan pies such as the Screamin’ Tomato.
Sure, you can order an old-fashioned pepperoni pizza, Grandpa. But Extreme Pizza offers signature pies with borderline screwball ingredient combos. Check out the menu’s description of Kickin’ Chicken: “Chicken marinated in a spicy ginger Thai sauce, peanuts, green onions, Swiss, fontina, fresh cilantro, mozzarella, peanut sauce and shredded carrots.” Or Poultrygeist: “Chicken marinated in a tangy ranch sauce, broccoli, red onions, Swiss, fontina, gorgonzola, mozzarella and fresh sage.”
Fresh sage? This definitely ain’t Domino’s.
When Extreme Pizza opens in Caldwell — “coming soon,” the website says — the location is supposed to include indoor and outdoor seating. There will be dine-in, takeout and delivery options. Take-and-bake grub also will be available.
