‘With great sadness,’ Boise coffee shop and music venue closes permanently

Another Boise business has fallen victim to the coronavirus.

Deathproof Coffee, which shut down in March at 10481 W. Fairview Ave., has closed permanently. The coffee shop and music venue made the announcement Friday, “with great sadness,” on its Facebook page.

Deathproof previously had indicated that the closure was temporary.

“We remained hopeful that we’d be able to reopen after the forced COVID-19 shutdown,” the coffee shop posted, “and we’re sad that isn’t the case. We appreciate our loyal Deathproof community, and can’t even begin to express how much we’ll miss you. Thank you for being a part of an amazing part of our lives, and allowing us to share a brief part of your story as well.”

After opening in summer 2018 at a strip mall, Deathproof began booking local and touring bands. It quickly won over customers with coffee, tea and an eye-catching skull logo. Yelp reviewers rated Deathproof Coffee 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.
