Three Treasure Valley restaurants have closed temporarily because of a potential coronavirus risk.

Bardenay, 610 W. Grove St. in downtown Boise, Bardenay, 155 E. Riverside Drive in Eagle, and Coyne’s — which made its debut Monday at 676 E. Riverside Drive in Eagle — will shutter for a minimum of five days, owner Kevin Settles said.

The restaurants’ management team found out Tuesday afternoon that an employee may have been exposed to a confirmed case of COVID-19 in a neighboring state. Because managers travel to all locations, all stores have been shut down, Settles said. A fourth Idaho restaurant, Bardenay in Coeur d’Alene, also was closed as a precaution.

“As part of coronavirus protocol, we have been tracking the movements of our employees to ensure the safety of our patrons and community,” Settles said. “While we don’t have any symptoms or a confirmed case, we feel it is the most responsible decision to temporarily close our doors.”

The employee has been tested locally, and results are expected in five to eight days. No employees of Bardenay or Coyne’s have symptoms, Settles said.

Settles plans to consult with health officials after receiving the test results, then update patrons of Bardenay and Coyne’s before reopening after the closure.

“If it comes back clean, and we don’t have any other sick employees at that time — and (local restaurants) haven’t been shut down by the government — we would most likely reopen,” he said.
