2. Have Mohr fun
Sports fans will gravitate to Liquid on Friday and Saturday to see actor-comedian-podcaster-Christopher-Walken-impersonator Jay Mohr do his thing. Mohr will perform at 8 and 10 p.m. each night. (The 8 p.m. performance Saturday is sold out.) Tickets are $25 at liquidboise.com.
3. Get sporty
▪ If it’s hockey you crave, watch the Idaho Steelheads take on the Rapid City Rush this weekend. Games are at 7:10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at CenturyLink Arena, 233 S. Capitol Blvd., Boise. Tickets are $12-$40.
▪ Or cheer on the Boise State Broncos men’s basketball team as it welcomes New Mexico on Sunday. The game is at 2 p.m. at ExtraMile Arena, 1401 Bronco Lane. Tickets are $20-$30 general, $19-$29 seniors, $18-$28 juniors.
4. Stomp into the Morrison Center
How has Stomp been banging along for 25-plus years? Because whaling on trash cans never gets old. The performance-art percussion group is back in town for three shows at the Morrison Center, 2201 Cesar Chavez Lane: 8 p.m. Friday and 2 and 8 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $40-$70.
5. Sip cider (or beer)
▪ Yes, Meriwether Cider Co. has a downtown Boise cider house. But that’s not where the alcohol-making magic happens. Visit the original headquarters at 5242 W. Chinden Blvd. in Garden City for a 4th anniversary party this weekend. You’ll find food, music, tastings and more (including outdoor heaters) from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Details here.
▪ Heard the news? PreFunk Beer Bar finally reopened after shutting down last summer to reinvent itself. Now it’s called Matlack’s, a self-described public house and “beergarten.” Check it out from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
