5 Things to Do This Weekend in Boise: Drop your pants in public, do a ‘girls day out’

1. Prance in your undies

Wanna stand around in public drinking beer in your underwear? Of course you do. The annual Cupid’s Undie Run, which raises money for the Children’s Tumor Foundation, takes over downtown Boise on Saturday. Starting at noon, participants share drinks at local bar Tom Grainey’s, 109 S. 6th St. At 2 p.m., they pause to embark on a mile-or-so fun run. That takes, like, 15 minutes. Then it’s back to Grainey’s for more partying until 4 p.m. Spectators are welcome, but it’s way more fun to strip down and join the action. Awards will be handed out at around 3 p.m. for best male and female costume. Registration is $45, or pay $50 at the door. Go to my.cupids.org/cur/city/Boise to register. Must be 21 or older.

2. Go to a concert

Here are live music highlights on the weekend calendar:

Folk-pop singer Brett Dennen will headline at 8 p.m. Friday at the Knitting Factory, 416 S. 9th St., Boise. Tickets are $20-$65 at TicketWeb.

How good is John Acosta at portraying Barry Gibb in tribute band Bee Gees Gold? So good that the group’s show Sunday at the Sapphire Room in Boise is sold out in advance. You can still snag tickets to concerts at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Nampa Civic Center, 311 3rd St. S. They cost $28.75-$38.75 at ICTickets.

American Authors and Magic Giant will rock the Knitting Factory on Sunday night. Tickets to the 8 p.m. gig cost $25 general admission in advance ($27 at the door), $50-$60 reserved, at TicketWeb. Public opens.

3. Laugh with ‘MST3K’

This is it — the final live tour for Joel Hodgson, creator and host of “Mystery Science Theater 3000.” Fans of the long-running TV show will not want to miss his performance at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Morrison Center, 2201 Cesar Chavez Lane. It’s called “Mystery Science Theater 3000 Live: The Great Cheesey Movie Circus Tour” — and it’s sure to be entertaining. “The show gives fans the chance to sit in the same theater with their favorite characters,” explains a media release, “and promises all of the MST3K signatures and rapid-fire hilarity that have built MST3K’s loyal following over more than 30 years: a cheesy B-movie, hilarious riffing, wisecracking robots, silly sketches, and Hodgson in the red jumpsuit as host Joel Robinson.” Tickets are $22.50-$45 at Ticketmaster.

4. Hit a hockey game

The Idaho Steelheads are home at CenturyLink Arena this weekend. Join the Steelies as they drop the puck against the Utah Grizzlies at 7:10 p.m. Friday and Saturday night. Tickets are $12-$40 at idahosteelheads.com.

5. Do a trade show

There’s a power trio of trade shows happening.

You’ll find more than 150 displays at the Canyon County Spring Home and Garden Show — and lots of experts to answer questions about trends and styles. It runs from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Ford Idaho Center, 16200 Idaho Center Blvd. in Nampa. Admission is $5 general, $4 senior, free for child 12 and younger. Online: canyoncountyspringhomeshow.com.

Take a swing at spring at the Boise Golf and Travel Show, which highlights more than 80 exhibitors. Highlights include PGA quick-tip instruction, a demo area, putting and long drive contests, a kids zone and more. Children 3-12 even get a free golf club (while supplies last). Every adult paid admission includes a free round of golf at Eagle Hills Golf Course. The show runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday (VIP night), 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Expo Idaho, 5610 N. Glenwood St. in Garden City. Admission is $12 ($20 on VIP night), or free for kids 12 and younger. Online: boisegolfshow.com.

If you still haven’t seen the Galaxy Event Center at Wahooz Family Fun Zone, 1385 S. Blue Marlin Lane in Meridian, here’s a good excuse to check it out. Sip and shop your way through the Girls Day Out Expo, more than 75 exhibits of jewelry, food, arts, crafts, home decor, apparel, beauty products, services and more. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free. Online: iblevents.com/girls-day-out-expo.
