Few phrases turn heads more quickly than “free ice cream.”

Ben & Jerry’s knows this. That’s why Free Cone Day is a 40-year tradition.

On Tuesday, April 9, Ben & Jerry’s scoop shops around the planet will dish up free ice cream cones. Ben & Jerry’s in Downtown Boise, 103 N. 10th St., will hand out free cones from noon to 8 p.m.

Worldwide, the chain expects to give away more than a million scoops.

Hot tip: “You can get back in line as many times as you want!” Laura Peterson, Ben & Jerry’s public “elations” manager, told me via email.

According to the official press release, you’ll be able to try “everything from Americone Dream to Triple Caramel Chunk. This year, the company’s iconic Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is available in its original and new non-dairy form, so there’s something euphoric for everyone. Ice cream lovers who find themselves in a cone-undrum over which flavor to choose can simply get back in line a second (or third, or fourth!) time.”

As part of the celebration, Ben & Jerry’s in Boise will be partner with Canine Companions for Independence and the Women’s and Children’s Alliance.

So spoil yourself. It’s all for a good cause.

Yes, you can get back in line as many times as you want!
