It’s not open quite yet, but things have been looking sweet at the Boise Co-op’s new side venture — at least on Facebook.
After being tempted by the occasional photo of a dessert or interior construction, Boiseans finally get a taste of Uncorked! next week. The Co-op’s new wine bar will open at 2 p.m. Friday, July 27, at 804 W. Fort St. Customers will enter through the Boise Co-op Wine Shop or through the wine bar’s Fort Street entrance.
An extension of the Wine Shop, the goal of Uncorked! is to get people excited about wine. Whether you’re a seasoned aficionado or a curious newbie, you won’t detect any snob vibes, Co-op marketing manager Mo Valko promises.
“We want people who are new to wine to feel really comfortable in there,” Valko says. “We’re total wine nerds, so we want to get people excited about wine. We don’t want to keep people away.”
The intimate space has seating for 26, plus a standing drink rail. An outdoor patio should be finished by September.
Uncorked! typically will carry six reds and six whites, plus roses and at least one sparkling wine, Valko says. “We’ll be offering different flight options as well.”
Beer and cider will flow from eight taps.
Hungry? Uncorked! will offer a small-plate menu.
“Like bruschetta,” Valko explains. “Hippie popcorn is on the menu — it’s popcorn with nutritional yeast on it. We’ve got an Idaho cheese plate, all-Idaho cheeses. And then we’re going to do like an arugula, lentil, pear salad. We’re doing a little Havana sandwich. We’ve got selections to please everyone.”
Don’t forget about pairing wine with dessert. Choose from vanilla cheesecake, chocolate cream cake and a trifle of the day.
Uncorked! will be open 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, 2 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and noon to 8 p.m. Sundays. It will be closed Mondays. You must be 21 years old to enter.
