1. Hit that country festival
Nah, not the one in Mountain Home — that’s next weekend. Heard about the Garden City Country Music Festival? It’s from 2 to 11 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot behind the Ranch Club, 3544 W. Chinden Blvd. The lineup includes headliner Stoney LaRue along with Aaron Einhouse, Pinto Bennett, Tylor & The Train Robbers, Jeremiah James Gang, George DeVore and more. Feel free to bring lawn or camp chairs, but there will be tables and chairs provided under a shaded tent. There’s also a late-night after-party inside the Ranch Club. Get all the details here.
2. Get Crooked
Recently reinvigorated Crooked Fence Brewing Co. is ready to party. The well-known Idaho brewery is having an official grand opening at its new Garden City taproom from 3 to 10 p.m. Friday at 5220 N. Sawyer Ave. All beers will be $4. It’s an indoor/outdoor bash with door prizes, Woodstock Pizza for purchase (I’ve eaten it — good stuff), and acoustic rock from local musician Blake Warr (5:30-9:30 p.m.). The music will be outside along with a big tent, tables and cornhole.
3. Do some spectator sports
Been to a Boise Hawks game yet? The minor-league baseball team takes on the Everett Aquasox in games Friday through Monday. They’ll play ball at 7:15 p.m., except on Sunday, when it’s a 5:15 p.m start. Don’t forget: Fireworks are after the game Friday. Also, Monday is “Feed Your Face” day. ... Meanwhile, the Snake River Stampede is in full swing now through Saturday at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa.
4. Rock out
▪ Jukebox Heroes with opener Nate Botsford at Rock the Village: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, The Village at Meridian, N. Eagle Road and E. Fairview Avenue. thevillageatmeridian.com. Free.
5. Do the circus
The touring Cirque Italia Water Circus is still doing its thing in the Boise Towne Square parking lot, where multiple performances happen this weekend. It’s a European-style circus with a water stage. What exactly does that mean? Check out reviews to educate yourself.
