The Piano Guys to perform concert in Boise
Another YouTube-to-riches story: This group of Mormon family guys started out meeting at a piano shop owned by Paul Anderson (the producer behind the viral videos), in St. George, Utah. From there they took the musical talents of pianist Jon Schmidt and cellist Steven Sharp Nelson, with production help from songwriter Al van der Beek, and plopped them in middle-of-nowhere venues to add majesty to their productions. Their videos feature them shredding cello strings and slamming piano keys on beaches, desert landscapes and next to different iterations of the Batmobile. The group of “cool” dads since graduated to international sensations, which is what brings them to Idaho.
3 and 8 p.m. Feb. 6, Saturday, Morrison Center, 2201 W. Cesar Chavez Lane. $39.50-$169.50. Ticketmaster.
