Boise Hawks aim for fresh start after rocky first half

kgreen@idahostatesman.com

In the Hawks’ second year as a Colorado Rockies minor-league team, things have remained fittingly rocky. The Hawks floundered to a 16-22 finish in the first half of the season — worst in the league. Their pitching was dreadful. The good news? The team basically started over when it began the latter half of the season this week. If the Hawks bounce back to win their division in the second half, they still go to the playoffs. Promotions this weekend against Eugene: Fireworks on July 29, “Bark in the Park” (bring your dog) on July 30 (plus free Hawks bandanas for first 1,000 fans), “Kids Club Sunday” on July 31.
