You can party like the Irish on St. Patrick’s Day

Katherine Jones / kjones@idahost

You’ll find a touch of the blarney at local watering holes and clubs.

▪  The fun starts early for a night with Irish-American rockers the Young Dubliners, who continue to make Boise part of their annual festivities. Openers are Boise’s Irish tinged-duo Chad & Vashti Summervill and acoustic rockers Maw Band, who are out of Victor. 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12, Knitting Factory, 416 S. 9th St., Boise. $14. TicketWeb.

▪  Green up for Hannah’s “St. Patrick’s Day Bash” with The Giant Leprechauns, The Boise Highlanders (9 p.m.) and The Rocci Johnson Band (9:30 p.m.). And, seriously, wear your green and see whether you can top Johnson’s outfit: The greenest person wins a $100 bar tab. 3 p.m. to close Thursday, March 17, at 621 Main St., Boise. No cover.

▪  One of the spots the Highlanders will visit is Ha’ Penny Bridge Pub, 855 Broad St., in BoDo. The Irish bar will celebrate St. Paddy’s Day all day and night — from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Expect to find an exclusive menu of Irish-American classics such as shepherd’s pie, corned beef and cabbage, lamb stew and a Guinness-spiked Angus burger. Don’t be surprised to find lots of special prices on draft Irish brews (Guinness, Harp and Smithwick’s), shots of Irish whiskey (Bushmills and Jameson) and cocktails.
