Boise celebrates the season with a parade and the Capitol tree

▪  The Boise Holiday Parade offers a look at “Christmas Through a Child’s Eyes” this year. The parade features local celebrities, holiday floats, classic cars and marching bands, all capped by the arrival of Santa himself. The parade travels from 10th and Jefferson streets, down to 4th Street and comes back on Bannock Street.

9:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, Downtown Boise. BoiseHolidayParade.org. Free.

▪  Help light the official state Christmas Tree on Nov. 23. Gather on the Statehouse steps for holiday cheer and community. Gov. Butch Otter and first lady Lori Otter will flip the switch at 6 p.m. on the 35-foot-tall blue spruce.

The festival starts at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, Idaho State Capitol, 700 W. Jefferson St., Boise. Free.
