Get ready to rock, Boise! March has bagpipes and Treefort as spring arrives

Raise a fist of Guinness y’all, because St. Patrick’s Day is coming up soon.

That’s right, spring is just around the corner, if you can believe it, and plenty of people will be ready to celebrate as the weather gets warmer and the music of March moves us.

Downtown bars will surely be serving up pints of the green stuff as well as other tasty stouts on March 17, and your favorite restaurant will likely have a special menu, so call to confirm. And hey, that date conveniently falls on a Friday this year!

The annual Butte in Boise is going down on St. Patrick’s Day at Boise Centre East. Enjoy some authentic grub, games and music by the Boise Highlanders. The local piping group will make the rounds around the city, so be sure to check the website for an updated schedule.

Indie music more your jam? Hit up this year’s Treefort Music Fest, with more than 450 bands across 60 venues, including a new location — Julia Davis Park. And, of course, there will be other “forts” to check out as well.

Got spring fever? Get a head start on all your home and garden projects at the Boise Home Spring Show March 16-19 at Expo Idaho. With displays in three Expo buildings, you are sure to get the inspiration you need to get your hands dirty.

And if you’re looking to get a little rowdy, an Idaho Steelheads game might do the trick, or take the entire family to Monster Jam (March 10-12) at Ford Idaho Center.

Note: Check with event websites or social media before attending. Events might be canceled or postponed after press deadline because of the pandemic, or might have new rules in place regarding masks and proof of vaccination.
