Concert crush: Here’s an updated list of the loaded outdoor schedule in Boise, Nampa

The COVID-19 pandemic took a well-known toll on the music industry, with bands and artists stuck in neutral while it was unsafe for concert crowds to gather.

Two years into the pandemic, that toll has been paid. Bands and singers are showing they are eager to be back on the road, and venues in the Treasure Valley are booking acts at breakneck speed.

The upcoming outdoor summer concert season is filling up more and more each week. Here’s a look so far:

May 29: Lord Huron, 7 p.m., sold out. Indie-rock band Lord Huron formed about a decade ago. Filled with cinematic overtones, the group’s music has been used frequently in movies and on TV. “Long Lost,” the band’s fourth and newest album, came out in 2021.

June 28: Ween, 7:30 p.m., $55. This quirky alt-rock duo — Dean and Gene Ween — from New Hope, Pennsylvania, formed in 1984.

July 12: The Avett Brothers, 7 p.m., sold out. This folk-rock band — frequent Boise visitors — formed in North Carolina in the early 2000s.

July 13: Khruangbin w/Men I Trust, 7 p.m., $49.50. Released in 2015, Khruangbin’s debut studio album, “The Universe Smiles Upon You,” pulled influences from 1960s Thai music. But the Texas band also borrows vibes from other parts of the globe, incorporating psychedelia, funk, dub and soul.

July 15: Rainbow Kitten Surprise, 7 p.m., sold out. Formed in 2013 in Boone, North Carolina, the indie-rock band is often described as “genre-defying.”

July 26: Caamp w/Future Birds, 7:30 p.m., $45. Indie-folk band has racked up 590 million streams globally — with a sound it’s described as “beautiful noise.” Caamp has had multiple hits on Triple A radio (in Boise, the format used by 94.9 FM The River), including “Peach Fuzz,” “By and By” and “Officer of Love.”

Aug. 7: Whiskey Myers w/Shane Smith and The Saints, 49 Winchester, 7:30 p.m., sold out. The band’s record, “Mud,” climbed to No. 4 on Billboard’s country charts in 2016. “And that was before the group was featured in Kevin Costner’s TV series ‘Yellowstone’ in 2018 (not just on the soundtrack, but on screen, performing in a bar), which propelled the band’s entire catalog into the Top 10 of the iTunes country chart,” according to the band’s website.

Aug. 9: The Head and The Heart w/Dawes, 7:30 p.m., $49.50. The American indie-folk band is scheduled to release its fifth studio album, Every Shade of Blue, on April 29, 2022.

Aug. 14: Bonnie Raitt/Mavis Staples, 7 p.m., $75. Both are Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singers, with Raitt’s best-known hits including “Something to Talk About,” “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and John Prine’s “Angel from Montgomery,” a fan favorite. Staples’ recent shows have included songs ranging from Staple Singers classics such as “Respect Yourself” and “I’ll Take You There” to her own, more recent “Who Told You That.”

Aug. 15: Mt. Joy w/Wilderado, 7:30 p.m. $45. Indie-rock band Mt. Joy has been on a rapid ascent since releasing its self-titled debut album in 2018. Songs such as “Silver Lining,” “Jenny Jenkins” and “Strangers” have received airplay on Triple-A format radio stations such as 94.9 FM The River in Boise.

Aug. 16: The Black Crowes, 6:30 p.m., $62.50. The tour is billed as “The Black Crowes Present: Shake Your Money Maker.” Released in 1990, “Shake Your Money Maker” was the band’s debut album. It moved over 5 million copies, spawning hits such as a cover of Otis Redding’s “Hard to Handle,” “She Talks to Angels” and “Jealous Again.”

Aug. 17: Iration/Atmosphere w/Katastro, The Grouch, DJ Fresh, 6 p.m., $39.50. Reggae-rock group Iration and hip-hop duo Atmosphere present the Sunshine & Summer Nights Tour.

Aug. 19: Maren Morris w/The Lone Bellow, 7 p.m., $70. Known for blending country with R&B and other styles, Morris is a Grammy-winning performer. Since breaking out in 2016 with the song “My Church,” she’s stacked up multiple Academy of Country Music Awards and Country Music Association Awards. She won Female Artist of the Year at the ACM awards in 2020 and 2021.

Aug. 29: Modest Mouse, 7 p.m. Aug. 29, $42.50. Formed in 1992, the indie-rock band eventually stormed the mainstream with its 2004 album “Good News for People Who Love Bad News.” The catchy single “Float On” was nominated for a Grammy Award and permeated American culture. Other popular songs by Modest Mouse include “Ocean Breathes Salty” — also from the “Good News” album — and “Dashboard” from 2007’s “We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.”

Aug. 31: Tedeschi Trucks Band w/Los Lobos and Gabe Dixson, 6 p.m., $59.50. Ticketmaster. Formed in 2010, the Tedeschi Trucks Band blends rock, blues and jam-band aesthetics. Susan Tedeschi was an award-winning singer and guitarist before marrying Derek Trucks in 2001. A former member of The Allman Brothers Band, Trucks is a mind-boggling slide-guitar wizard. He’s ranked No. 16 on Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Guitarists” list.

Sept. 1: Shakey Graves w/Sierra Ferrell, 7:30 p.m., $39.50. Bluesy folk and rock powerhouse.

Sept. 16: Flume w/Quiet Bison, Kareem Ali, 7 p.m., $39.50.

Sept. 21: Jackson Browne, 7 p.m., $85. Singer-guitarist powered up the charts in the 1970s and ‘80s with rock radio hits such as “Doctor, My Eyes,” “Running on Empty,” “Somebody’s Baby” and “Tender is the Night.” He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and has sold more than 18 million albums in the United States.

June 15: Halsey w/The Marias, 7 p.m. June 15, $29.50-$129.50. After exploding on social media in 2014 before even being signed to a record label, Halsey released a first album in 2015. Since then, they have become known for hit singles such as “Without Me” and “Closer,” a collaboration with The Chainsmokers.

June 24: Jacksons Country Stomp w/Russell Dickerson, Lauren Alaina, Elvie Shane and Jackson Dean, 6 p.m. $35 early bird, $40 general.

June 28: Dirty Heads w/SOJA, Tribal Seeds, Artikal Sound System, 6 p.m., $39.50-$75. Reggae-rock group.

July 8: Slightly Stoopid w/Pepper, Common Kings, Fortunate Youth, 6 p.m., $35-$45 general ($49.50 door), $65 premium. Formed in 1994, the Southern California reggae-rockers have made outdoor touring a summer tradition since 2006.

July 15: Goo Goo Dolls w/Blue October, 7 p.m., $29.50-$249.50. Formed in 1986 in Buffalo, New York, the alternative-rock band is a multiplatinum act that achieved huge mainstream success in the mid- to late 1990s with hits such as “Name” and “Iris.”

July 27: Kenny Chesney w/Carly Pearce, 7:30 p.m., $49-$149. With more than 30 million albums sold, Chesney is one of country music’s biggest crossover successes. He’s had 32 songs hit the top spot on Billboard’s country charts. Between the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music, he’s won Entertainer of the Year eight times.

July 28: Dispatch/O.A.R. w/Robert Randolph Band, 7 p.m., $25 first 300 tickets sold, $49.50 general, ($55 door). American indie/roots band Dispatch and platinum-certified Maryland rock band O.A.R. are hitting the road with their first-ever North American co-headlining tour.

Aug. 6: The Chicks w/Patty Griffin, 7:30 p.m., $45-$169.50. Formerly The Dixie Chicks, the all-female trio has won 13 Grammys and has sold more than $100 million worth of concert tickets during their career.

Aug. 20: Fitz & The Tantrums/Andy Grammer w/Breland, 7 p.m., $46-$76. Known for their energetic live show, the Indie-pop and neo-soul band Fitz and the Tantrums broke out in 2010 with their debut album “Pickin’ Up the Pieces.” The group’s biggest hit is “HandClap,” from their self-titled, third album in 2016. Pop singer-songwriter Andy Grammer’s biggest song is the 2015 fan favorite, “Honey, I’m Good.”

Aug. 21: X-Fest Rockzilla Tour: featuring Papa Roach and Falling in Reverse with special guests Hollywood Undead and Bad Wolves, 6 p.m. $35-$75.

Sept. 9: Morgan Wallen, 7:30 p.m., $49.50-$299.50. The country singer is a former contestant on “The Voice,” and known for No. 1 country smashes such as “Whiskey Glasses” and “7 Summers.” This show is all but sold out.

Sept. 10: Korn/Evanescence w/Dena Denata, 5:30 p.m., $29.50-$99.50. Formed in 1993 by vocalist Jonathan Davis, Korn first found success in the 1990s. Its bludgeoning, self-titled 1994 debut cemented nu-metal as a mainstream force. Rolling Stone called it “the most important metal record of the last 20 years” in 2014. Fronted by singer-keyboardist Amy Lee, Evanescence exploded up the charts in 2003 with its full-length debut album, “Fallen.” Featuring the ubiquitous radio smash “Bring Me to Life” and hit ballad “My Immortal,” it has sold more than 17 million copies globally. That makes it the fifth best-selling album of the 21st century, trailing only works from Adele, Eminem and Norah Jones.

Sept. 14: Flogging Molly/The Interrupters w/Tiger Army & the Skints, 6:30 p.m., $39.50 first 200 sold, $45 general ($49.50 door). Celtic-punk band/ska-punk group.

Sept. 20: LANY w/Surfaces, 6 p.m., $35-$65. Pop-rock act with best-known singles “ILYSB” (2015), “Okay” (2019, a collaboration with Julia Michaels), and “Mean It” (2019, a collaboration with Lauv).

Sept. 21: Foreigner, 8 p.m., $38.50-$96.50. This rock band known for 1970s and 1980s hits such as “Urgent,” “I Want to Know What Love Is,” and “Juke Box Hero.”

Sept. 27: Odesza w/Sylvan Esso, Elderbrook, Nasaya, 6:30 p.m., $39.50-$75. Electronic dance music duo.

Sept. 30: Rufus Du Sol w/Paraleven, 7:30 p.m. $39.50-$69.50. Nontraditional EDM powerhouse Rüfüs Du Sol sold more than 48,000 tickets during three consecutive nights at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.

June 4, 2023: Matchbox Twenty, 7:30 p.m., $39.50-$119.50. These rockers are known for top 10 hits such as “If You’re Gone,” “3AM” and “Bent.”
