Raise that green beer and get ready to rock, Boise! March has bagpipes, Treefort, more

March is here, which means St. Patrick’s Day is coming up quickly.

Are you ready to throw back some pints and get jiggy with some bagpipes?

Hit up downtown bars, where green beer will flow from the taps. And check the Boise Highlanders website for updates on the band’s scheduled performances, one being at Butte in Boise March 17 at Boise Centre East.

If piping music really isn’t your jam, you are sure to find something more your speed at Treefort Music Fest, with 500-plus artists from around the world performing on 30 stages scattered across Downtown Boise. The event is finally back in March (23-27), after COVID forced its cancellation in 2020 and then move to the fall in 2021. Don’t forget to check out the multitude of other “forts” as well.

Want even more music? How about Killswitch Engage (March 1), Imagine Dragons (March 2), Neal McCoy (March 18) or Santana (March 26)? And the Young Dubliners will make the annual March trip to Idaho, with a show on March 11 at the Revolution Center in Garden City.

Any “Dexter” fans out there? Actor Michael C. Hall is the vocalist behind the avant-indie trio Princess Goes to the Butterfly Museum, which will play the Visual Arts Collective on March 29.

For those planning on getting their hands dirty with yard and garden projects, the Boise Spring Home Show (March 17-20) and the Boise Flower and Garden Show (March 25-27) will offer expert advice, new products and tons of inspiration.

And for monster truck and hot rod fans, don’t miss the Boise Roadster Show March 11-13 at Expo Idaho or Monster Jam March 11-12 at Ford Idaho Center.

Note: Check with event websites or social media before attending. Events might be canceled or postponed after press deadline because of the pandemic, or might have new rules put in place. At Boise events with fewer than 250 people, attendees must wear masks indoors, as well as outdoors if social distancing can’t be maintained. Boise events with 250 people or more require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test upon entry. Ford Idaho Center and other venues may also require proof of vaccination or a negative test, depending on requests from performers.
