What does August have in store? Comedy, concerts and comics — with any luck
August is here, but it won’t be the same without the signature event that fills bellies with fried goodies and then makes them queasy with stomach-dropping rides.
COVID-19 has canceled the popular Western Idaho Fair for this year.
However, there still could be some fun to be had, depending on what is able to occur amid the virus. These activities won’t get you your funnel cake fix, but let’s be real, I think we’ve all been snacking to high heaven since March, so axing the fried Oreos is probably necessary.
If you are down for some giggles, comedian Iliza Shlesinger (Aug. 16) is still slated to perform at the Morrison Center.
Catch a concert perhaps? Young Dubliners (Aug. 7), Killswitch Engage (Aug. 14) and In This Moment/Black Veil Brides (Aug. 28) are scheduled to play the Revolution Center as part of its new socially distanced shows.
You won’t be able to get your geek on in person at this year’s Boise Comic Arts Festival, but virtually, go ham!
Likewise, the Zoobilee fundraiser for Zoo Boise is being streamed Aug. 28.
As we head further into the second half of 2020, life is still far from normal. If getting out to enjoy an activity or two helps with that, please be safe and mindful of others. And be sure to check that the event is still taking place before heading out since things are always changing these days.
