Boise Phil hires new executive director. She comes from the Seattle Symphony
The Boise Phil announced Thursday that the organization has hired a new executive director. Laura Reynolds, most recently of the Seattle Symphony, will officially take the position on March 16.
“I’m thrilled to be joining such a dynamic institution,” Reynolds said in a press release. She will focus on creating “sustainable and engaging music programs that bridge the divide between the community and the concert hall.”
In Seattle, she worked as the orchestra’s vice president of education and community engagement. She also collaborated with music directors and guest artists to create programs that invited the audience to connect. She is the board chairwoman for the WindSync chamber music ensemble in Houston.
She comes out of the ranks of classical musicians who found their way into arts administration. Reynolds graduated from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music with a degree in French horn performance.
The Boise Philharmonic Association also includes the Boise Phil Master Chorale, the youth orchestra, several chamber groups and educational outreach programs. They’re all under the artistic direction of Eric Garcia, who took the baton in 2017.
Reynolds replaces Hollis Welsh, who left the Boise Phil last fall and is now development director for Boise Contemporary Theater.
Reynolds is moving to Boise to live full time with her spouse and two cats, according to the release.
