Peter Longgood, previously an assistant at Vallivue, will take over the Kuna boys basketball program for the 2016-17 season, the school announced Thursday.

Longgood replaces Joe Kleffner, who led the Kavemen for the past year and a half, including a 9-13 campaign in 2015-16.

Longgood joins the program as Kuna moves up to the 5A classification next season for the first time.

“It is a pleasure to become part of a great school and community,” Longgood said in a release. “I am grateful for the opportunity to coach and teach at Kuna High School. It’s an exciting challenge to lead a team that will be competing with some the best athletes and coaches in the state at the 5A level.”

Before coming to Idaho, the former Oregon Tech basketball player coached for seven years in Kodiak, Alaska.
