Eagle High’s Ely named to Midwest League all-star baseball game
Eagle High graduate Andrew Ely made his first professional baseball all-star game roster Tuesday, when the Low-A Midwest League announced the second baseman on its Eastern team roster for the June 21 game.
The 23-year-old has hit .292 with 11 doubles, two home runs and 12 RBIs in 43 games for the South Bend Cubs.
This marks his second season in the Midwest League. He started 2015 in the circuit, hitting .196 before getting demoted to the Eugene Emeralds of the Northwest League. He hit .301 in Eugene, second highest on the team.
