Boise man charged with first-degree murder in January stabbing
A Boise man accused of stabbing his friend in January is charged with first-degree murder as of Wednesday, according to court documents.
Michael Ryan Downs, 25, of Boise was initially charged with aggravated battery, accused of stabbing his friend Daniel Ridgeway with an 8-inch kitchen knife Jan. 5. Prosecutors did not disclose when Ridgeway died, but in court April 12, talked about planning to revise the charge.
Downs’ bond was also increased from $50,000 to $500,000 on March 30. Someone close to the Ridgeway family told the Statesman Ridgeway died in late March.
A prosecutor said Downs was under a methamphetamine-induced psychosis when he attacked Ridgeway. The incident occured at a Foothills home around the area of Windsong Drive and Toluka Way at about 5 a.m.
