Update: Police identify man whose body was found in Caldwell canal. Cause of death unknown

The Caldwell Police Department released the name of the man found dead in a local canal on Thursday.

Detectives responded to the area of Dearborn Street and South Lake Avenue in Caldwell on Thursday afternoon after learning that a body had been found in a nearby canal, according to a news release from the Caldwell Police Department.

Police identified the victim as 38-year-old Chris Conaty, Caldwell police spokesperson Char Jackson told the Idaho Statesman in an email.

The coroner also responded to investigate the death, but Conaty’s cause of death was still pending, according to Jackson.

The Idaho Statesman reached out to the police department for additional information.
