About 1,500 high school students participated in a three-day robotics competition, in which their student-designed robots went head-to-head at Taco Bell Arena.

The students, broken up into about 45 teams, came from all over, including out of Utah, California and Idaho, according to a FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) press release. They competed from Thursday morning and wrapped up Saturday.

Amidst the competitions, the event featured speakers including Gov. Butch Otter and NASA astronaut Steve Swanson.
