VIDEO: 'Topping off' ceremony at Clearwater building in Downtown Boise

Developer Gardner Co. hosted the “topping off” celebration for the Clearwater Building in its City Center Plaza project Tuesday.

The traditional ceremony marks the placing of the building’s last beam. A tree attached to one end of the beam symbolizes bringing life to the building.

The Clearwater Building, located on the southeast corner of 8th and Main streets just west of the U.S. Bank tower, is a nine-story office building that will include first-floor retail space — mostly restaurants — and meeting space. It is part of the City Center Plaza project, a development that will include a second building with a ballroom and associated space south of the U.S. Bank tower and an underground public transportation hub.

The entire project is scheduled for completion in July 2016.
