Officials opened an investigation after a body was found in a submerged car on Monday morning.

The Boise police and fire departments responded to a “report of suspicious circumstances” at 2:19 a.m. near South Cole and Lake Hazel roads, southwest of the Boise Airport, Haley Williams, Boise police spokesperson, told the Idaho Statesman by email.

The first responder located a car submerged in the New York Canal and found a deceased man inside, according to police.

Williams said police found no evidence of foul play and a death investigation is underway.
