One person was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and three others sustained minor injuries Monday after a vehicle crashed into the first floor of an apartment complex on the 5700 block of North Garrett Street in Garden City, according to Boise Fire.

According to Lynsey Amundson, spokesperson for the Boise Fire Department, here’s what happened:

About 11:30 a.m., Boise Fire and Garden City police responded to reports of a vehicle crash into a residential building. Fire crews and police quickly rescued the single occupant of the vehicle, a man, as the vehicle and apartment caught fire. The man was transported to the hospital with injuries considered to be life-threatening while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and evacuate the remaining residents of the building.

Three other people sustained minor injuries but were treated and released at the scene. The fire was contained to one ground-floor apartment, but the 16 occupants of the building were displaced. The Local 149 Burnout Fund and TIPS responded and are assisting the families with any immediate needs

No other injuries were reported and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
