A deputy with Boise County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a two-vehicle crash around noon Saturday on Idaho 21, according to an Idaho State Police press release.
Deputy David Lee was on patrol around milepost 21, near High Bridge and the Ada-Boise county line, attempting a U-turn in his marked 2004 Ford Explorer when he was struck by 69-year-old Joseph Kaiser’s 2010 Ford Escape, officials said. Lee was in the process of attempting to follow a speeding vehicle.
Both Lee and Kaiser, of Salmon, were taken to St. Alphonsus in Boise. Kaiser was air-lifted to the hospital, while Lee was transported via ambulance, the release said. No word was available on their conditions.
According to ISP, the highway was blocked for about an hour and a half but has since reopened.
