AmeriBen, which administers medical-benefits plans for large employers across the country, says its Meridian headquarters will grow to about 400 employees now that the company has landed a major contract.
The company, which also has offices in Salt Lake City and Phoenix, will have about 500 workers in all after completing hiring this summer.
The company has 85 clients with 420,000 employees and dependents. AmeriBen’s latest contract is with JBS, one of the world’s largest meat processors. Ben Wright, AmeriBen president and chief financial officer, said the contract is the latest gain for the company that has averaged 15 percent annual growth for the last 30 years.
“With this contract, we’re probably up to the sixth-largest organization in our industry,” he said. “On a national scale, we’re getting to be one of the biggest players.”

The company seeks to hire registered nurses, information-technology professionals, medical-claims administrators and call-center representatives. Those interested in applying can do so at ameriben.com.
Wright said the company leased an additional 24,000 square feet of office space at its headquarters in the SilverStone Business Campus at 3449 E. Copper Point Drive to accommodate the new staff.
The company plans to grow steadily, he said.
“We have a few more employers evaluating us for next year,” he said. “We anticipate this to be a continued trend.”
