Michael Deeds: Another music venue in Downtown Boise closes

All-ages music venue and coffee shop The Crux is no more.

The Crux, which has been in a legal battle with its landlord, has posted a sign indicating that it will move to a new location.

I’ll believe that when I see it. A judge ruled last week that The Crux owes nearly $94,000 in unpaid rent.

Trouble has been mounting for The Crux, 1022 W. Main St., for the last couple of years — be it the rent dispute, losing its privilege to sell beer or having its borrowed public-address system vanish.

The Crux joins local music venues the Crazy Horse and the Bouquet in shuttering in the past several weeks.

It’s definitely a bummer for the under-21 crowd. This city needs an all-ages music venue geared toward younger fans.
