A golfing legend is headed to the Kentucky Derby.
Arnold Palmer, 79, said during Saturday's NBC telecast of the Arnold Palmer Invitational that he plans to be at Churchill Downs in Louisville this year on the first Saturday in May for the first time.
Palmer said he hadn't previously attended the Derby because when he took a week off from golf during his playing days he preferred to avoid crowds. He retired from competitive golf in 2006.
The Derby is scheduled for May 1 and will be televised by NBC.
