Ticket packages for the Kentucky Derby and Oaks sold out in 48 minutes when they went on sale at noon Wednesday, according to Churchill Downs.
The Louisville racetrack offered 3,000 seats, ranging in price from $172 for one seat to $6,390 for a six-seat box.
"There was extraordinary demand, with more than 50,000 online requests within the first five minutes," Churchill Downs racetrack President Kevin Flanery said in a statement. "We're thrilled for those who were fortunate to purchase reserved seats and sympathize with those who didn't have the luck of the draw this time around."
