Coming off one of the most difficult losses possible, the Idaho State Bengals hope to finish their home slate with a win Saturday against Montana State. The game starts at 2:35 p.m. at Holt Arena in Pocatello.
Idaho State lost against No. 22 Montana 33-27 last Saturday when the Grizzlies ran back a bad snap on the potential game-winning field goal in overtime. It was the third straight loss for the Bengals.
Saturday’s game could be a high-scoring affair, as the Bobcats are averaging 42 points per game and giving up 34. Idaho State’s last win over Montana State was Oct. 11, 2003. Current Idaho State coach Mike Kramer was then-Montana State’s head coach.
The game will be Senior Day for 19 seniors, including wide receiver Madison Mangum, a Timberline High grad. Mangum is in the top 10 in school history in receptions (148, 10th), receiving yards (2,069, ninth) and touchdown catches (18, tied for sixth).
Senior running back Xavier Finney has 3,342 career yards, and needs 67 to break the school record.
Other Idahoans honored on Senior Day will be defensive lineman Tyler Kuder (Payette), tight end Tyler Wright (Mountain Home), tight end Tyler Graves (Fruitland) and defensive lineman Chris Edwards (Meridian).
